Ok so since I haven’t journaled in forever I thought I was long over due….I’m still getting over a cold…I’m just kinda at that stage where I’m almost over it completely but there is still congestion and major sinus pressure so I’m sorta in a funk…it is really nice to be getting back on schedule as far as work n stuff is concerned…not saying I totally enjoy having to get up early again lol…but I’m such a slacker when I don’t have an agenda….my days and nights start getting mixed up (I’m a total night owl) and I just play all the time… (Playstation – I’ve practiced a lot of the songs on the new karaoke…my favorites include “I Love Rock n Roll” “Play that funky music” “I Don’t Wanna Be” “That’s Amore” “Crazy” and many others. And Monday Jimmie and I spent the day just being lazy and we worked on a puzzle and I played Sims and watched a few movies and played Karaoke some more lol)
hope everyone had a wonderful New Years this year! Ours was weird because we weren’t with my family and that has sort of become a tradition over the last five years, but we had a really nice time with husband’s cousins….several of them came down…I think we counted (counting us) there were like 14 people and everyone spent the night…I didn’t venture upstairs which is where most of them slept but I think it must have been air mattress city! Lol….down stairs - three people slept in the living room…upstairs - two people slept in the bedroom with all the tractors, four people in “King and Queen’s room” and three people slept in the lofty living room…it was comfortable and everyone seemed to have a really good time. Over the past few years, observing and helping mom and dad a little bit in throwing their parties, I’ve pretty much learned party throwing from the “pros” and so we had tons of food and they brought more food so there was more food than we will ever eat lol…and we played games…there was a movie version of Scene It (which the boys won by a landslide) and a tv version of Scene It (which the girls won by a landslide) and then someone had that Funtime trivia (which I want!) it’s like the trivia you play at Damons (which I always play!) and so we played that and I think it was a draw between the boys and girls.
A lot of them smoke and a few of them sort of chain smoke…so I was a little worried that they’d have a problem going outside to smoke, but that was a non-issue. It was warm and they loved our wrap around porch. Husband said that if we ever need pictures for insurance purposes we can ask a couple of them because there were two people that took many many pictures of our house the whole time they were here. Husband’s family – most of them don’t really know how to clean house let alone decorate (not really being a smarty pants about that either – just stating fact – a clean pretty home is not high on their priority list. I’m not as neat as say my sister – who is!- lol but I couldn’t live like they live. That doesn’t make me better than them. I’m just stating fact without any sort of judgmental tone – just to clarify that lol) so they were like a little in awe of our home….which was a cool feeling…I know it was really good for husband to be able to “show off” his home a little to them…made him feel a little proud I think to show them how well he is doing because of the influence of his aunt Weezie (these were her daughters and their family that came down).
Anyway, so we went outside just before midnight onto the porch, all of us. I opened a window so we could hear Dick Clark’s countdown and we all went outside and shot off those poppers…so no mess in the house! Incidentally, did anyone watch Dick Clark? They were having a discussion about it on the radio yesterday morning and some people thought that it was “morbid” that he was on tv and some thought he was courageous. Opinions? In my opinion, it was really sad to see him in that shape but apparently his stroke was very severe and he had to relearn basics like walking and talking so he is probably very proud of the progress he has made and so he felt ready to be on tv again and I think that it gives hope to others who suffer strokes that its not the end of line. They can still do stuff…like the lady on the radio said, he still has that boyish face and you could tell that he still has all his mental faculties and wits about him. It’s just the speaking that is still a little bit of a problem…anyway…it was sad to see him, but in light of what he has come back from, it was really good to see him back
Well…I guess I’ve journaled enough for now…I need to get some work done…”talk” to you all later!

Glad you had so much fun New Year's Eve. Isn't it great to have people "ooooo" and "ahhhhh" about your home? Sounds like a night to remember! We didn't watch Dick Clark. But I read lots of stuff that said how excited he was to get back to it! Hope you have a great Thursday! Lots of Love!
Well of course they oohed and ahhed over your house! It is beautiful...and especially your decorating! I am happy for you guys! It was wierd not all being together...but it sounds like it was a good change for you guys. I am sure that Jimmie appreciated having his family down!!!
I thought it was sad to see how bad Dick Clark was...but courageous and honorable of ABC to allow him to do it. He is certainly an icon!!!
