Tuesday's Musings

I had a great weekend but man I was tired yesterday! But it didn’t stop me from going to see Pirates of the Caribbean for the second time in three days! Lol I almost like it better than the first one…Johnny Depp is so much fun to watch!

Friday night husband went to a tractor pull and he asked me to go with him but I had a million and one things to do it seemed….I wanted to get laundry done….and I had a bazillion squash to cut up and freeze…gifts to put together…the list goes on….by 10:00 I collapsed…but I didn’t actually go to bed til after 11:oo….Saturday…slept in a little bit then got up and got packed and ready to go….our first major stop was to be at a baby shower for one of husband’s cousins…umm…I’ll call her Groovy Chick…actually, she’s husband’s second cousin…do you want to know the whole details of his relationship with Groovy Chick?? Lol anyways…Groovy Chick is my absolute favorite second cousin of husband’s…she is just the sweetest nicest funniest and bless her heart homeliest girl…she lived with Weezie for the last 3 or 4 years of Weezie’s life…and around the time that Weezie took a turn for the worse…actually, the last time that we went up to see her, Groovy Chick had a man! And she had recently found out she was pregnant…and he proposed at Christmas with all of us there! Lol….but anyway, so all through the whole mourning and sad phase…when husband and I were alone and we’d both get way too choked up...one of us would say…Groovy chick has a man! And that would make the mood lighter because we are both genuinely happy to see Groovy Chick so happy….the coolest thing is that being in love, totally agrees with her…she has this glow….and she will totally make a great mom!

So anyway…now you’ve met Groovy Chick…ok so since they did the whole shot gun wedding thing…just a few months ago, I went to a bridal shower for her and then we went to a wedding reception for her a few weeks after that….all of which started on time and the family was there preparing for the festivities well before they were actually scheduled to begin. This would be a normal occurrence in most families, however, my husband’s family makes my Aunt Chatty Cathy, and me (and BRAIN TWIN), for that matter, appear to be EARLY FOR EVERYTHING. As an infamous example…on year for Thanksgiving we were at Weezie’s around time that dinner and everything was to begin….one of her daughters lived in Cleveland at the time…so she called them to see if they were close to being there….THEY HAD NOT EVEN LEFT CLEVELAND YET!!! Lol (at least a four hour drive)….they just all of them lose track of time and get side tracked very easily…anyway…I’m totally being a chatty cathy…lol…this is an important fact to know later….

So back to our road trip on Saturday…I told husband about what time I wanted to leave to head to Ohio so of course I was rushing to the last second…but I made my own time limit…so we got about 10 minutes from the house and I said oh darn….I meant to look at the invitation before we left just to be sure I had the right day etc….I shouldn’t have thought this out loud because husband started doubting me…he even offered to turn around and go home so I could look…I said no, I’m 99% sure that I have the day and time correct….so we stopped at Taco Bell for some lunch and then up the highway….on the way to the community center where the shower was to be held, we passed husband’s aunt & uncle’s house. They run a produce/greenhouse stand…and they were both outside busy at it…we waved…a short while later…the community center came in to view and there wasn’t one car in the parking lot…it was 10 minutes until shower time….OH NO! maybe I should have looked at the invitation…well so then, with giggling husband, we drive to his cousin’s house (they live real close to the place where the shower was going to be and that’s where husband planned to go hang out at for a bit) nobody home…Groovy Chick lives next door to them…she isn’t home…the cousins’ sons live down the street…they aren’t home…argh….so we drive back by the community center…still no cars…so we go to the aunt and uncle’s house…she confirmed that yes, the shower is today but she wasn’t going because they were having a surprise b-day party for her SIL’s 50th b-day…so we visited with the aunt for a bit and then we went back to the comm. center…finally two cars and we recognized one of them! Yay! It turns out, that Groovy Chick’s sister thought it started at 3:00 and also Groovy Chick went to pick up her SIL but the only road that she knows to take to her SIL’s house is closed….so it was just one of those days….

Anyway…is it too late to say long story short? Lol…it was a cute shower…we stayed for less than an hour because by that time, husband had decided he wanted to take I-man to a tractor pull….

So then we got to sis’s…and I know ya’ll read her journal…so see Angelkids’ journal for the rest of the details lol! I do have to say that when husband came home from taking I-man to the tractor pull….first of all he was giddy because he let I-man get dirty!! Lol (sister sent I-man to a TRACTOR PULL in very light colored khaki pants! Lol – next time we’ll make sure he is wearing jeans!) but I could tell husband really had a great time with I-man…he lit up as he was telling all the things they did…it’s so funny to watch husband imitate some of the things I-man says…he also said that I-man NEVER stopped talking….and he said that at first he was introducing I-man to people by his name but by the end of the evening he was introducing him as Birth Control…lol! Husband also said that I-man may have heard a few very colorful words that he doesn’t usually hear…so sister, if I-man asks you what some dirty word means…husband tried to move quickly away from some of his potty mouth acquaintances…but I-man may have heard some words he isn’t familiar with…lol!

Sunday morning, I decided that I wanted to surprise sister by showing up at church…husband was thinking of going to our old church but he decided to come to church too…and mom did too…dad had a project with his new front door…and when dad gets a project, there isn’t anything else to do but the project! Between church and the party, where there were so many Journal Goddesses, husband was a little weirded out that so many people knew who he was…lol…he was like, what do you write about me? Are they all going to gang up on me? Lol I told him nope…it’s all positive stuff baby! Lol…I love that man even though he can sometimes be a pain in my rear! Lol

Anyways…umm…yeah it was nice to hug or say hi to so many of you on Sunday! I even met Sebbiedue! It was funny because she introduced herself and I was like hi and then she whispered I’m Sebbiedue and I was like OH HI!!! Nice to meet you!! Lol

So when we got back from church mom put me and husband in charge of putting together the cupcake butterfly…so husband iced all the pink cupcakes….he was really a big help in putting the design together too…it was a fun project for us! Lol

Then we dashed over for the party…there were soooo many kids! It was so cute to see FAB and I-man playing with all their friends! Don’t get me wrong, I really love the Aunt Ya-ya time where I can shower them with kisses…but it’s cool to see them with little people their age just being these little individuals….kids interact so funny and so honest….I REALLY got a kick out of Pita Pocket with the phone….he got on this play phone and he chattered into the phone almost the whole party! Lol several kids wanted the phone too….so occasionally, Pita Pocket would run by with 3 or 4 kids chasing him!!

But so anyway…we hit the road and I was so sleepy (car rides makes me sooo sleepy) I think I dozed a few times, but I was really trying to stay awake to keep husband company since there is temporarily no radio/cd player in my car because of the whole computer chip thing….so about half way home, we started playing name that tune…we’d each take turns whistling or humming a song…and sometimes I’d just sing to husband and he kept saying oh that’s a pretty song….

It made me think back to a long time ago when we were still dating, the first time he heard me sing in church…there was this lady, who has since passed away, but she said when I was singing, she looked at Buford, and she said the expression on his face was like he was hearing an angel sing….now I know that the Lord blessed me with a gift…but I also know that my voice is probably just a little better than average…ya know what I mean? I mean, I do not have any disillusions that I’m like this undiscovered Sandi Patti talent by ANY means of the imagination lol…but it makes me feel all happy inside when my husband tells me how pretty I sound…lol…ok that was soooo mushy….blah….sorry!! lol….I waxed all kinds of mushy with that story….I totally meant….ewwww boy kids!! Lol

Ok well…it’s about time to head outta here…and I want to post before I leave works so catch ya’ll later!

TV this evening will be good….Big Brother and then Rock Star “Supernova” (what a dorky name for a rock band and also Tommy Lee skieves me out! Lol but there was a chick on there that totally rocked out Nirvana’s “Lithium” last week…I think she is Curt Cobain incarnate man- any rockers reading? Can I get a what what…lol…..) ok seriously done being a nerd….peace out!
