Robert Goulette and other ramblings....

I can no longer accuse my husband of not having a romantic bone in his body…well ok…so he has his moments where he can be romantic and stuff but he really out did himself with his anniversary present to me this year….

So this year is our 10th anniversary (in case you are a new reader!! Lol)….(Oct 5th!) so we are generally low-key anniversary celebrators – maybe a nice dinner and cards….but earlier this year we decided that for our 10th it should be a more momentous occasion….well husband really made it momentous let me tell you…and it’s not over because we are going to Virginia Beach next weekend!! (Again, for new readers! LOL) anyways so on to the present…..

We never really had any good wedding pictures…there are a few good like “action pictures” walking down the aisle or cutting the cake, but being that I was the first “big wedding” we really skimped on the photographer…plus my wedding was planned while mom and dad were in Michigan many many miles away….so there were just some things about my wedding that looking back we would have done differently…I would have been more vocal in the planning…but whatever...ancient history…the wedding obviously took cuz here we are 10 years later…and there are really way more quaint wonderful memories of our wedding….but definitely would have picked a better photog….anyways….so my husband thought of this idea all on his own and then he enlisted the help of my mother and my sister apparently….mom got some photos together and husband commissioned an artist, who has also been a friend of the family for years, to paint a wedding portrait of us….it’s HUGE and absolutely beautiful….it’s at the framers now and I didn’t have the presence of mind to take a photo of it so I’ll have to post a photo of it when it comes back from the framers….but I’ve just been bragging to everyone because I think that is just about the coolest gift I’ve ever received!

Now I have to say that at first I thought that I was standing with Robert Goulette (or however you spell his name) because let’s just say, the artist was very kind to both of us! I think he actually took about a hundred pounds off us too!! Lol

But I did have a chance to just really look at the painting on Saturday and husband is looking less Robert Goulette-ish…lol….and more like just a younger version of himself….I look a lot younger too…but it was 10 years ago!!

Anyways…umm I guess I don’t have much else to journal about…we had a really long day Friday because we got up and drove to Florence for breakfast then to mom and dad’s for a bit before the funeral…husband took off to pick up the painting and almost made us later for the funeral…dad came out after he got dressed and got me all nervous that we were going to be late so when sister showed up at their house I demanded to use her cell phone…she was wondering what on earth she walked in on…I’d forgotten my cell phone at home and dad kept putting his away so I had to keep asking to use a phone (they don’t have a land line at their Ohio house which is very aggravating). But so husband and I managed to squeak into the funeral just as it was starting….he was telling me to ride with mom and dad and he’d just change clothes when he arrived at the funeral home….which I said nuh uh because that is tacky! However, we were almost the epitome of tacky because we were almost late to the funeral…so blah!! And then of course at the grave site (after the ceremony at the grave site and only at our truck – so please don’t imagine that I dragged the painting up and sat it next to the grave!) I had to show off my painting (because sister and skinny cousin wanted to see it)…we just spent the day being inappropriate at a funeral….that drives me crazy!! I don’t feel like I got to really focus on the funeral at all…I was way to excited about my gift – and that is so wrong! But when we live two hours away every trip is a multi-tasking trip….anyways…so we didn’t go to the funeral pizza party (because that’s weird anyway) afterward because there was a tractor pull in Georgetown…so we went back to mom and dad’s, changed clothes and headed out again….

We didn’t get home til like 3:00 in the morning….LONG DAY man! But it was nice to be home….when we got home, I gave husband his present, which is a collector toy tractor replica of a “famous” pulling tractor – one of his favorites – he was very geeked about it….lol

Saturday I slept in…and husband went to another tractor pull closer to home…mostly he sat in the rain and told people about his anniversary present and he said the guys said that he got the better present…whatever! Lol

I called a framer and got a rough estimate of what it would cost to frame the painting and it was about what the artist said he’d do it for so I went ahead and took it to the frame shop here…I ended picking out a little bit higher priced frame but it will definitely be an heirloom piece so we’re ok with it….

The rest of my Saturday I spent laying around being a bum…for the last week or so, I keep having days where I feel as if I’m getting the cold/flu thing that is going around and then the next day I’m perfectly fine…well Saturday was a feeling yucky day…so I vegged…I think it’s more of a sinus issue....

Sunday…Sunday school was packed! Such a good turn out and a really good discussion about anger….we have a few wack-a-doodles in our SS class….they just make random odd ball comments most of the time…and they actually didn’t talk much so it was a good SS class….

Church was really good…Preacher P is so anointed….and we have a revival going on this month, every Sunday evening in October…and one of our favorite preacher friends spoke last night so husband and I tried to remember all day that we wanted to go to church Sunday evening…and we actually did remember so yay! The lady that did special music did awesome…the first song she sang, it was very country and I had never heard it before and can’t remember the name of it now, but it was just an AWESOME song and really set the tone for a blessed evening in the Lord! Really good service…we’ll miss probably the next couple of services because of our trip and the weekend after that I’ll absolutely want to go up and meet my new niece, if I haven’t made it up there sooner!! And also Diddley’s singing at Dayton’s Got Talent…

Well…I think I’ve rambled on enough…I need to try and get some work done…

Hope everyone has a blessed week!

So, you gave me several giggles reading this. First off, thinking that you were standing next to Robert Goulet cracked me up! Also, the funeral thing. I know it's a serious thing, but picturing you whipping out your painting and then the comment on the pizza party! LOL. And last but not least, the wack-a-doodles. As you can see, it doesn't take much to amuse me!

What an awesome present your Hubby got you and you're right...it's very romantic! Tell Robert Goulet he did a great job!

YEAH! I am so glad you love your present!! I have known about it for so long...it was hard to keep it a secret because I was so proud of Buford for thinking of it! I am glad you are getting it framed right away...I was worried that you wouldn't do that and then it would never get done. So YEAH!!!

And I don't think it was inappropriate....and neither was the pizza party. It was so what Aunt Dude would've wanted....a celebration! She was a woman to be celebrated!!!!

Glad you had a good weekend! I hope the week goes by fast for you so you can get to your vacation!!!

Love ya!

What a romantic!! He hides it well, but he can't deny it!! LOL :) That is VERY sweet :) I can't wait to see the pic :)

Oh, and Mom made a good point about the pizza party thing, too...None of them have a church family that would coordinate a big dinner afterwards, ya know? So, not TOO weird, but I know what you mean...it is a little weird...

BTW, explorer will play your music, but firefox won't!! LOL For months while I used firefox, I was like, what's wrong with her music?!?! (it would play mine fine...) Browsers are weird...

Better go...can't wait to see the pic of your pic of your pics :) LOL Weird mood...

Love ya!! :)

HAPPY Anniversary! Yay Buford, great present!

Try those Airborne tablets in a glass of OJ. Those worked great for me last time I was sick.

Have a great anniversay trip!
