Random Ramblings....

So I know I haven’t journaled in a month of Sundays right…and I really haven’t read much either so I can’t even say that I’ve been a lurker…lol…I’m just a slacker all around what can I say!

Actually, I’ve been keeping myself busy around the house…I was watching Decorating Cents the other night on HGTV and I was inspired to do a project so that has been keeping me busy. I will (keep your fingers crossed cuz I know I still owe a pic of the table) post “before” and “after” pictures of the $10 chairs I got at the flea market. Actually, I messed up because I didn’t take photos of exactly what they looked like when I brought them home because they were an ugly gold color…but anyways there’s a teaser…definitely worth watching for pictures of these chairs!

I have also painted two other chairs so now I have a whole cottage/shabby breakfast room table and chair set…I totally have the decorative bug right now…I think it’s a spring thing…wish I had the cleaning bug though! Lol

My parents are officially buckeyes and I’m surprisingly totally ok with it…it’s not about me right now anyways…I’m just so excited for this big transition in their lives…and I’m especially excited for them to start being able to spend more time with all their grandkids…my other sister’s (not Missy) kids are desperately in need of my parents’ good influence!! Our middle sister has just gotten wrapped up in such a strange life style….so totally opposite of how we were raised…it’s mind boggling really…but so hopefully mom and dad will be able to intervene a little bit…while somehow striking the balance between not letting middle sister become sort of co-dependant on them…please pray for our middle sister…her name is Janice…she’s not the same person we grew up with…it’s a long story but when I let myself think about it, it’s really kind of heart breaking…it makes me that much more thankful for the great relationship I have with Missy….because just because people are related doesn’t automatically guarantee that there will be a loving lasting healthy relationship…ya know what…that was just an epiphany I had just now! Wow!

Umm…so anyways, what I was going to say was that a couple of weeks ago husband and I went out to eat with mom and dad – or maybe it was just last week- anyways, we came home with another truck load of inherited furniture because with every move they have downsized…my house is starting to look like a furniture store lol! One of the treasures I got was the hoosier cabinet…I have coveted that thing since dad brought it home from an estate sale! For anyone that doesn’t know what a hoosier cabinet is…you could probably google it…but it’s like an old fashioned hutch type piece of furniture…they are usually white with an enamel surface and they have this whole flour sifter storage unit and lots of cupboard space…very cottage/shabby! Which, as you all know, I’m all about right now…I was uber excited about that one let me tell ya!

Hmm what else…I’ve suddenly realized that I have yet to journal any about American Idol…there really hasn’t much to journal about it I guess lol…last year’s talent was so obvious and great that they set the bar way high, in my opinion….but there are a few stand outs….after last nights show though I called my mom and told her that after Melinda Doolittle’s performance last night…all them other fools might as well go on home…How has that chick not been already recording on her own??!! Dang! I was dancing in my living room with the surround sound cranked! Of course, I already had the surround sound cranked and I was already dancing because when that rocker chick sang an Evanescence song I couldn’t contain my excitement…she was no Amy Lee (Evanescence’s lead singer) but to her credit, that is a really hard, high energy song to sing…plus, the rockers always get my votes! Lol…I don’t usually vote this early on but I did vote on Tuesday for 4 guys cuz I don’t want to see anyone else go before Sanji….although I don’t think he’s as bad as people are doggin on him…he’s always pitch perfect and his voice has an awesome tone to it…he just lacks charisma…he definitely makes up for that with his smile though…and I don’t want to see another girl go before Barbarella…she did a little bit better last night but still…she’s not great…and if that is her in those internet pictures, she really should be kicked out…they kicked Frenchy out for the same thing so it’s only fair.

I do have a few other favorites but I think Melinda should probably easily win this year…we’ll see…I really like the beat boxer too though…and the other young guy…I can’t remember his name…this week I think he sang a country song? Last week he sang Freak in Pink, or something like that….

Anyways there’s my AI ramblings….

Last weekend we made a trip to Ohio because I took mom and dad their car and also we helped unload some stuff…sister and I got to have a quiet breakfast together on Saturday morning (how did that happen? Lol)…and that was nice cuz we don’t get a whole lot of one on one time much anymore…love and miss you sister! I also got to hug and kiss on my nieces and nephew…I miss that too!!

Oh…ok so let me ask ya’ll this…I went to college for two and half years at Asbury…I still get alumni letters etc…so this year is our *gulp* fifteen year reunion (has it really been that long??) and I got my invitation/reservation form. Is it tacky to go to a college reunion if you didn’t graduate from there or anywhere for that matter? I told husband that I was kinda thinking of going and he is all for it…I’m a little embarrassed about not finishing college….ok a lot embarrassed actually…but he gave me a pep talk…and I’d actually like to see some of my old classmates…so I’m taking a poll of sorts…what do ya’ll think?

Ok well…I better get some work done…it’s almost lunch time!
