First of all...I want to clear something up...I read sister's comment asking if she should be offended by my last entry...and my reply is absolutely not...lol...I do not begrudge you your neat freakiness one bit...I envy it...and when you and mom are coming over, I'm intimidated that I'm not as organized as you all are, but I think everyone notices their own shortcomings way more than anyone else does. So I totally recoginze that that was a pressure which I was imposing upon myself. I got over it and incidentally, we had a fabulous time....

ok...now for the journaling...Thanksgiving was wonderful!! Sister and her family got there earlier than they thought. (I was really hoping that they'd get there earlier, so when she called to say they were leaving early, I wasn't all that surprised!!) I was making manacotti for me and husband anyway...have ya ever made manacotti? I'm not sure that I had made it...I used to make stuffed shells...those were a lot easier to stuff than the manacotti...I used a spoon at first but that was not getting the mixture down in there...so I ended up using my fingers...it was very messy...

so anyway...we had a lovely dinner...I was a dork and had already set the table for Thursday...so we did a practice run...lol...and had a wonderful visit...

so then Thursday morning was very comical...I've never cooked a whole turkey...lol...so about a half an hour before we were supposed to put it in the roaster, I went in and opened up the package...and the turkey was still a little bit frozen...I couldn't pry the legs apart to pull out the neck and there was no way I could get my fingers in the neck to pull out the giblet bag....I'm telling ya what...I have a new appreciation for vegetarians...because that was so disgusting...handling that big raw carcass of a turkey....yucko...so husband sort of took over...he ran some warm water over it until he could pull the legs apart to get the neck out of the cavity... that was actually the easy part...if it didn't say on the wrapper that there was a giblet bag somewhere...we wouldn't have even known to look for it...but he finally located that and extracted it from the carcass...for all the hilarity of fixing the turkey...it turned out very yum...everything was yum...and the company was wonderful....I kinda missed all the extended family being there too though..but it was a nice and cozy day...after dinner...see now this is the part where it is highly advantageous to invite neat freaks over...because they are excellent at helping clean up!! lol ((((((neat freaks))))))....anyway...we all cleaned up and then everyone kinda dispursed and dozed...then later we played poker and ate until we were stuffed...it was a very fun day...

so Friday morning my husband got up very early to go pick up some Amish men...he said when he got to the first guys house, he was still eating breakfast, so husband went in and sat at the table. The guy, I think his name was Alvin, he offered him some breakfast, but husband wasn't hungry so he said no thank you (I'm thinking are you crazy! He turned down an Amish breakfast! h he just told me it was deer sausage...yuck, I'd prbably turn that down too...lol)So Alvin asked husband if his wife had already made him breakfast (this was between 5 and 6 am...yeah right!! lol) and husband said no, she doesn't do that...lol...way to make me look bad to the Amish, husband!! lol...oh well...so then sister's husband got up pretty early and left too...meanwhile, husband and four Amish guys started working on the roof...I refrained from snapping pictures of Amish men on my roof...lol...then sister's husband called and the alternator had gone out on the van...so dad took off to help him and mom came and got sister and her kids and they were off too...I was sad to see everyone go, but I kinda crashed after they left...lol...I think it is supposed to rain on Monday, so hopefully, we will find out then that all the leaks are fixed and we can start repairing the walls with ater damage...we are contemplating giving each other a window for Christmas and put an extra window in the living room...

so now, we have just returned from the practice for the Hanging of the Green service tomorrow night...it is going to be a very pretty candlelight service...I am very excited...after practice husband took me to Tumbleweed...we ate too much...lol...but oh well...

It just feels like a very lazy day...husband is fixing to take a nap and I might take a nap too...or play Sims...I haven't decided...

I'm not really in the mood to journal much, but I did want to catch ya'll up on my holiday and to wish everyone a great week...the Christmas countdown has officially began!! wahooo...It's the most wonderful time of the year ::singing::

Toodles....

I'm glad you all had a great Thanksgiving!! :) That's kinda how our's went, too...pretty laid back (of course, I didn't have to fix a turkey, but ya know ;) ) We played games, and then yesterday we went to the craft show (not as crazy, actually, as going to the mall!! I was surprised, but then, we didn't go at 5am, either!!LOL)

I share your fascination with the Amish, btw :) When we went to Amish country last spring...they're just so interesting to watch...I browsed through a book all about Amish people in a shop, and almost bought it...but there were too many other things I'd rather have!! LOL ;)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! :)

Okay, the way you worded it, it sounds like your hubby is picking up the Amish men...like "hey, what's your sign" pick them up. I was laughing that I almost woke up Pita Pocket! I can just imagine the whole turkey incident. You have such a way with words! Hope your fountain isn't there if it rains on Monday! Lots of Love!
