Happy Monday!

Happy Monday….is that an oxymoron? Lol Me thinks it is…ok so I’m in a loopy mood today….my brain fog from the cold is slowly lifting….this has been a very strange and hard to shake cold….but alas…I do not want this to be a whiney entry so that is all I will say about that….

What an absolutely fabulous weekend!! The weather was totally beautiful! And the forecasters had all week said it was going to be a cold rainy weekend….good call guys…lol…we spent a lot of time outdoors on Saturday especially…but I’ll start my summary with Friday evening…hubby and I went to dinner here in LA and then, because I am totally jealous of my sister’s new Vera purchases, I wanted to go to the Vera store….but they had closed early…bummer…but I should have expected that because Friday, in case you didn’t know, was Oaks Day…the phillies (female horses-Derby is for male horses) run for the lilies….it’s not quite as big as the Derby…unless of course you are in this area and then it’s sort of a holiday ….schools were closed down here on Friday and many businesses, especially in the Ville, were closed as well….so anyway blah blah blah…

I have observed about this “Kentuckian area” that it is VERY self absorbed….it’s humorous how things in this area are so hyped up…like for example….there are other basketball teams besides UofL and UK? Really?? And the Bats aren’t the best baseball team going? Lol Thunder is the biggest fireworks display in the WORLD? Well ok that one may be true….but if it’s happening here the world must be celebrating it lol…which is partially true with Derby….but I think you get my point…it’s funny…but it’s also kinda neat because there is always some sort of community activity being hyped up and showcased….I can’t remember things like that happening where I lived in Ohio…it gives you a tremendous sense of community and pride, even though the world really isn’t hanging on every activity that happens in the Louisville area lol….and I’m still new enough to this area to totally get caught up in all the hype!

Saturday, I had told my husband that I would try and be up by 9:00 a.m. and be his “friend”…lol….which means, running around and doing errands and what not…so he comes in to wake me up a little bit before 8:30….umm…I told him to buzz off because I have a half hour left! Lol…so eventually I did get up and we were off to the bank, then breakfast at DQ (which he complained about because he’s a morning person so 11:00 to him is lunch time not breakfast time…lol) umm…then we stopped in to see my parents. They were on the phone with I-man when I walked in so I got to talk to him…what a ham…then FAB got on the phone and then my sis got on the phone…my mother and I talked to her together…it was really great to talk to my sis! My mom tried to coach I-man to say which Derby horse was going to win….she was totally gung ho on Barbaro….I had drawn A.P. Warrior in our work pool so I was rooting for him…I never did hear where he finished…but my mother totally gloated all weekend because she had picked the winner….and he won by 6 links!! and made it look effortless! It was truly an amazing horse race…anyway….blah blah blah….we didn’t stay very long at mom and dad’s because we were on a quest for plants….we went to several nurseries and came home with many veggie plants and flowers to plant….so our garden is mostly planted now…my husband is trying this circle planting technique this year in part of the garden so that’s going to be interesting….so we still have to plant green beans…we have planted onions, corn, egg plant, tomatoes, three types of peppers, we have some squash that seeded from last year and we plan to plant some more of that….I love summer squash! Yum! Oh and I want to plant some zinnias….they are this gorgeous little flower and great to cut fresh and have around the house….Judge plants tons of those and she brought a ton of them in to work last year and they are just so colorful and happy to have around…

I also got two hanging flower baskets for my porch…one is this dainty little peach flower…it looks to old fashioned and I love it!

We just had a really fun day together….Sunday more of the same, but with nap time! Lol and a lot of porch lounging…

Well…not a whole lot else to journal about…I’m sort of getting very into all types of plants….it’s so cool to watch things grow and flourish…I bought a new plant last week for my office and I have several houseplants and I want more! Lol

Blah blah blah….HAPPY MONDAY!

Okay...so you definitely got the green thumb too...not fair! You got all the creativeness and the green thumb! What did I get? Geesh! Everything I have (plants) die! Oh well! I almost bought a hanging basket the other day...but I didn't. I need to get on of those soon.

Glad you had a good weekend with Buford. I have to tell you....FAB talks about YaYa a lot. Since I have that picture of you and Buford on the piano, she points at it and talks about YaYa a lot. That was a good idea to get that picture. We still can't get her to say Buford (well, his real name) but we are trying! It's funny because I think it is the easiest name to say, but she won't do it! Too funny!

If you read my entry from Friday, Hubby wants me to give you my hobo bag that I bought last week. It is very cute. I have it in my closet and I see it and think how cute it is..but I am totally into the back-pack thing right now.

There are a lot of Veras at good prices on Ebay right now. I think it is because a lot of people bought stuff at the Trunk Show and are selling it now.

Glad you are feeling better! I am finally getting rid of all of my congestion! Now, if we can just keep everyone healthy through vacation next week, I will be HAPPY!

Love ya!!!!

Ha! I have actually killed more plants than I care to mention over the years....it's all a learn as you go thing...plus we have Cindy Sullivan down here...a local garden guru who is on the radio regularly and I have learned a plethora of garden tips from her!

My hobo bags have been hanging on their hooks for years because I'm totally a back pack kinda girl right now too...they are just too convenient for hands free shopping! lol

Sounds like you had a good weekend! I'm also jealous of your green thumb. I buy things, plant them, and they don't grow! What's up with that?

I'm glad the plague...errr, the cold is getting better! :)

You are the gardener, aren't you!?!?! My mom bought me a plant when I moved into our first house. It got watered twice a year....when my mom came over!!! LOL! You'll have to take pictures of your veggies....I LOVE home grown veggies!!

I looked on e-bay for the vera stuff that Mac-N-Cheese swears by. They have a lot of good stuff for great prices.

Have a great week!!!

Lots of Love!
