Wednesday's Ramblings...

So I’m not really in the mood to journal, so I’m not sure if this will be a very long entry….how’s that for an opener…aren’t ya dying to read the rest of this post! Lol

I had a great, long weekend of doing nothing really….sister and family came down and we did a lot of just sitting around visiting….Saturday we went to the flea market…and later we had pizza and we rented movies…we rented two snoozers lol…Because of Winn Dixie….good message and sweet movie…but VERY VERY SLOW! But dad stayed awake for it…which is an accomplishment lol!

Sunday, my sinuses were very very clogged…ugh…so I wasn’t sure how much I would be good for…lol…but as the day went on I eventually felt somewhat more normal…I just hate the whole sinus thing…blah! But anyway…enough whining…so mom fixed a most delicious lunch and after we gorged ourselves with all that home cooking….the boys decided to go golfing and they took I-man with them to be caddy…so we had a peaceful afternoon…mom, sis, and I watched the other movie we had rented…Last Holiday…or something like that…the one with Queen Latifa and she thinks she’s dying…it was cute but a little corny and slow too…but it was better than Winn Dixie…ok…so this shows the generation gap of who thinks who is hot…L.L. Cool J plays the love interest in the movie and mom said he isn’t that handsome…and sister and I immediately disagreed! Lol…that boy is easy on the eyes! Those demples…forget about it! anyway…sister fell asleep…so every once in while she’d wake up and I’d tell her what she missed lol…I’m glad it was such a relaxing visit for her especially…she has been doing so much lately so it was good that she got to just veg a lot this weekend! Later when the boys came back we all went outside for a bit…the boys played t-ball and us girls sat around watching FAB…she is soooo stinking cute….oh my goodness…she’s a stinker too though man! And I-man…he is so precious and ornery….I could just sit and watch him talk…lol…he is so expressive…

So after we all came in, I was determined that we were going to play a game of some sort…so we found the Tripoly game but we didn’t have poker chips…so dad let us raid his giant change pot…we each got $20.00 worth of coins to play Texas Hold’em (we didn’t get to keep the winnings though! Dangit! Lol) My BIL…or as sister calls him “All in boy” lol….is hilarious to play poker with because he’s such easy money! Lol I got up to go to the potty at one point and when I came back I had been dealt in and my husband had blindly made a 50 cent bet for me….I looked at my cards and thought they were messing with me….I had pocket aces and there was an ace in the flop (or whatever the first three cards are called)…so I kept bidding like $2.00 bets and BIL was the only one left bidding against me…I swear I could have taken all his money in that one turn!!! Lol…needless to say I won that hand…and I ended up winning it all!! Wahoo…too bad we weren’t playing for keeps!! Lol

Monday I slept in…sister and BIL were leaving cuz I-man was going to go on a camp out with his cousins…and husband worked for a little bit…I had the day off so I slept in and then hubby came home and we went out to lunch….and we just had a relaxing day….it was too hot to do anything really…but I did go out and float in my pool for a while…husband came out and weeded the garden and kept me company…

Really more of the same on the 4th…it was just a long lazy weekend…which is nice once in a while…we had a really good rain last night…so that’s good for the garden…we will have tomatoes probably in about two weeks and beans soon after…yummmmm

Oh man…last night on the History channel they showed the movie Flight 93…I debated on whether to watch it or not because I knew that it would be heavy and emotional…but appropriate to watch on the 4th of July….so about ten minutes in, it went to commercial and I thought oh I can’t watch this….I was already bawling…(husband was in Toledo so he wasn’t there to see me crying and also I think that sometimes when you watch emotional movies alone, the reaction is stronger) but anyway…I did watch it all and it was very tastefully done. It just brought back a lot of those feelings that we all felt on and after 9-11….I just remember at first thinking….what is going on?? Last night, as I watched the guys that portrayed the terrorists (they were so young), I just thought, how does evil/hate get in and take hold like that? How does one get to that point? I just do not understand the motive…it boggles my mind…

the part that was the most heart wrenching though was the phone calls to the various loved ones…having that last conversation with their loved ones…one daughter who was on the plane said to her mother on the phone….it just makes me sad that this will be a lot harder for you than it will be for me…

ok…sorry to be depressing…

Well…as usual, I’ve found plenty to journal about…hope everyone had a great weekend…my prayers are definitely with Kelley and family…

oh one other thing I forgot to mention....I finally got to experiment with something that is big on the news around here right now...have ya'll heard about this...putting a whole packet of Mentos into a 2 liter of Diet Coke....HUGE fountain! try it...it's fun! lol
