*********Rock Star babblings directed at no one in particular lol************

So blah blah blah…not that anyone will know what I’m talking about but so husband and I watched the finale of Rock Star last night and we were first floored when the one that we thought was a contender to win was the first person let go last night….then we thought for sure that the final two would be Toby and Dilana with Dilana winning…but the final two ended up being Lukas and Dilana…Lukas can be an amazing performer – he has a very distinct sound- however, after a few songs ya get tired of him sort of regurgitating his words….he sings way too much with his throat constricted…so, I really thought with he and Dilana in the finals, Dilana had it locked….she is already “rock and roll royalty” as Dave Nivara called her and just an amazingly talented artist…but husband and I watched, stunned, as Lukas won…evs! Dilana was robbed man! However, after Lukas won, the band got up and jammed with him and they did rock…but geez…oh well…another reality show bites the dust! Lol

******************end Rock Star babbling*******************

one more thing about Rock Star that is more of a general observation…if you’ve never watched Rock Star let me tell you how the voting works…American Idol could really take a lesson from this….Chris (or Mandissa for that matter) would have won if American Idol’s voting was like this….on Rock Star the public votes after the performance show…then on results night the bottom three perform a song of their choice and the judges vote out one person….so just because of one flukey night of voting, the likes of which got Mandissa and Chris voted out way too early, the most talented person can end up in the bottom three but still be safe – Katharine probably would have went out a lot early if AI did that…anyway, Chris should have went on Rock Star instead of Idol…but anyways…can ya tell I’m still in denial about Chris losing…lol…

and the last thing I’ll say about Rock Star is to show my fountain of useless knowledge…Mark Burnett, King of Reality tv and creator of Survivor, is the creator of Rock Star….so there ya go…the next time that comes up on trivial pursuit, you’ll be informed…

ok I lied…one more thing is that husband and I really watch very little tv together but Rock Star is one show we both get into so it’s nice to bond with him while jamming…

ok enough about Rock Star….lol

next topic….anniversary trip sage…..

so let me tell you how this went down….Tuesday evening, I called sister to get permission to not be around on Oct 9…when I got off the phone husband called his mother to find out his brother’s plans…

now, let me preface all this by saying that as close as my family is, is how distant husband’s family is….there just isn’t a real strong connection there…which makes me sad but it’s a fact of life…there’s a lot of not so fabulous history in his family that has yielded things to be what they are today. So we have not seen or spoken to his brother (his two brothers are actually husband’s half-brothers and are much younger than husband) in probably 8 or 9 years –so for the most part, we don’t really know him now…so it’s not so much important to husband to see his brother as it would be for husband to give his mother the gift of having all her boys together before one of her boys goes in to a situation (i.e. Iraq) where he could possibly not come back from. So husband wanted to find out when his brother M would be in town and if his brother K was also going to be around…

well…so Tuesday is when he found out that his brother M’s leave had been shortened and he would only be there for a few days and those days were not days that we could go down to Alabama….now prior to finding this out we had a plan all mapped out of when we’d go down and since we were there we would go to the Gulf…well…so that shot our plans down...

husband went to bed and my mind was rolling….I was thinking well since we had a trip planned and those plans fell through….I will find us different travel plans…so that’s when I started looking for cruises…husband was fast asleep when I was searching for the cruises so I had yet to discuss that with him…I’m not a morning person so I didn’t talk to him about the plans at all until after work yesterday at my mother’s house while she was looking up vacation deals…lol…so needless to say husband was taken off guard and surprised and he really doesn’t handle that very well so he was kinda grumpy about it saying he doesn’t fly and he doesn’t want to go be on a boat….blah blah blah…so I told mom I’d look at the websites later when we figured out what our plan was….so we went to dinner with mom and dad and then when we got home I explained to husband my line of thinking and he said that if we were going to take a trip south that close to when his brother would be around then we’d go do both…we can’t afford to do both and plus neither of us have that much vacation time saved because when it was all said and done we’d be taking off almost two weeks to go on a cruise and visit his family….blah blah blah….so I told him to call his mother because I could almost bet money that their plans had changed again already….so he called her and sure enough, now his brother is only going to be home for like one and half days and the other brother K isn’t going to be home at all….so we’re not going to Alabama and after some discussion, we get to pick wherever we want to go for our anniversary trip…so I’ve been on mom’s timeshare website and Expedia and I’ve found some great hotel rates in places like Virginia Beach/Williamsburg area and Myrtle Beach…I’ve been to VA Beach but I’ve never been to Myrtle Beach…but it’s in October and it’s tropical storm season…so I’m having reservations about going to the ocean…but I dunno….

It would really help if I weren’t so dang indecisive and also it would help if I didn’t feel like I was pulling my husband’s teeth by trying to go on a trip…I know once we’re on a trip, we’ll both just have a great time…but getting him motivated to do something like this is a HUGE job!!! Grrr….lol…but I’m determined that we are going somewhere for our anniversary dangit! Lol…even if I gotta blame the tractor and turn on the water works every time he balks at the thought of a trip!!! lol but seriously…I wanna go some where!!

Well I’ve blabbered on and on but it’s my journal and I can vent about stuff here so there! Lol

Bless his heart…husband has a really bad cold too…he just called a little bit ago and said he was on his way home to bed…so I’m praying for him and I’m also praying I don’t get what he’s got!

Have a happy Thursday!

later the same day.....

so ummm....I think that we have a trip to Virginia Beach area in the works....I compromised because there happens to be a tractor pull in North Carolina Friday night so I said that I wouldn't mind going to that if we took a trip...so after supper, husband and I both had these big maps and a plan is forming...I'm on the hunt for deals! lol

Survivor was neat tonight...I think it's really cool how by splitting people up by etnicity, it's really bringing out their individuality...kinda fascinating really....I was laughing when that hippie was tweeking that other dudes head...and the guy said, well my headaches gone but now I have a red dot on my head...

alrighty I've been trying to make this post all day...so I'm hitting the "Publish Post" button....peace out ya'll!!

So...I saw Jeff Probst on The View this week and he was talking about the headache thing...it was much neater when he was explaining it...because he said that the dude was really whining about this horrible headache....and so it was neat to see how the hippie dude did that. But it was kinda humorous when you actually watched it. It was interesting.....too early to have many thoughts about it!

You guys REALLY need to do the get-away thing....especially since you never took a honeymoon!!! It will be fun...and I bet that Williamsburg will be beautiful that time!!! So, hopefully it all works itself out!!!

Love ya!!!

We're going to watch Survivor tonight. I was too tired last night. I can't wait to see it! As for Rockstar, I only started watching the last few episodes, so I don't really know much about any of them. I do think that we'll see Dave Navaro dating the chick soon. Did he act in love with her or what???

Yeah for vacations! Virginia beach sounds fun! I"m glad your hubby relented!

I watched Rock Star at the beginning, but it started when we were in TN when Nana was sick, and Hubby's family didn't like it....so, needless to say that we missed 3 or 4 episodes so I didnt' get into it this year.

I do like their voting system better. That would have guaranteed that Chris win and that Mandisa was in the top three.

Hope you get to go somewhere nice and get it figured out soon. The sooner the better....less for your hubby to change your plans! LOL!

Lots of Love!
