Well…our election night date night was sort of a flop cuz I couldn’t stop sneezing! Argh…we went and did our civic privilege (I’’ll journal some deep thoughts on that in a bit – I’m sure you’ll wait with baited breath! Lol) Anyways we went and voted and I was feeling snotty (for lack of a more civil description) but we decided to go out to dinner anyway because that’s our tradition and also I didn’t want to cook! Lol I sneezed and coughed all through dinner and I really couldn’t taste my food which is unfortunate because it looked really yum.

When I got home I took some cold medicine and went to bed and pretty much stayed in bed til about 2:00 p.m. on Friday…I don’t know what sort of evil virus we’ve caught but husband has it too and it messes with your head big time! All we could do was sit around and sleep or stare…I think it’s just a really bad head cold but it just won’t stop…I’m still not 100% but I’m feeling somewhat better…I do still catch myself in staring episodes…weirdness….by Friday I was so sick of staring at my four walls so I did haul myself outside. I took the dogs for a walk and then I built a fire in my fire pit and sat and stared at the outside for a while…

The Courthouse was closed on Friday in observance of Veteran’s Day and my usual tradition is to go to Churchhill Downs with my girlfriends but I didn’t go because of the evil virus….

Saturday I did manage to get away from the house though…we had our office Christmas party and we made wreaths! For the last several years Judge has treated us all to a paint your own pottery thing but this year instead she had someone show us how to arrange flowers and what-nots into a pretty Christmasy wreath. I chose snowmen and it turned out pretty cute! So we had a good time socializing and learning to make bows and stuff…

Vera Bradley had a special give away of this cute little bag if you purchased $50.00 or more of Vera stuff so I stopped by the Vera store on my way home and spent over $50.00 for a “free” bag…they didn’t even have the “free” bag in my java blue pattern so when I went home I got to thinking that that was really a gimmick and I was suckered right into it lol…but I did get things I “needed” lol. I bought a travel organizer in my java blue pattern. I bought sister a travel organizer a few years ago for her birthday or something and I’ve been meaning to get one for me for a while…I also got a java blue wallet to go with my java blue purse because the whole thing about Veras is that everything must match…lol anyways…so yeah that was about it for me on Saturday. I went home and stared some more.

Oh I did manage to get a few panels in my pie safe done…dad made all us girls pie safes a few years ago and I found tin inserts at my flea market about a month ago. I just have to cut them down a little bit and then fit them into the door…so that little project is half done! I’m telling you what, it really changes the look of the piece…it really makes it look sharp!

Umm Sunday (yesterday) we got up for church and it was our children’s church day and as husband and I were getting ready for church (and taking turns having private time in the bathroom because of our yuck stomachs! Sorry if that was SOS) I was thinking and we discussed that we should probably let someone know that they might not want us to do children’s church so as to not infect the children with our evil virus…although husband’s theory when he is ill is the quicker he can give it away the sooner he’ll be better…but so I remembered that we were having a soup dinner after church (because last Sunday when I-man was in Children’s Church they talked about it and after church I-man told husband and I that he wanted to come back next Sunday for the picnic!). I also remembered that the kids had a lock-in Friday night and they made the soups for the soup dinner because it was to be a fund raiser dinner. So I had a feeling that Children’s church time was going to be a prep time for the dinner since the kids were putting that together. And I was right because during Sunday School the youth leader approached me about our children’s church plans. So that dilemma worked itself out.

Husband and I made it through Sunday School (I made it grumpily through – I’ll type about that in a minute – or maybe I shouldn’t because it’s hateful) but anyway so we were sitting in the worship service and halfway through announcements husband whispered that when they dismiss the children to CC maybe we should leave…we were both obviously miserable and I was coughing a lot so I agreed….

On the way home I spewed and vented about Sunday School…and I know that my attitude is horrible and the horrible attitude was no doubt magnified by my being ill…but my comment was this…”How did we end up with all the special people in our class”…what I mean by that is that we have several ladies…granted one of them is actually mentally challenged so I can cope with her random comments…but there are three other ladies in particular who just constantly compete for the floor and they rarely talk about lesson related things…their comment may start out as something pertaining to the lesson but then will end up with telling about a sale at Walmart or who lives in public housing or some other random remarks…it’s really aggravating to me and I know it has to aggravate our teacher. When I vent to husband he tells me I have a bad attitude…argh! But I got him because one of the things I wanted to vent about is something that he has gotten after me before so I know it irks him…Sunday School starts, the teacher starts the lesson and the lady SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO THE TEACHER constantly talks to people across the table, loudly, while the teacher is talking…that is just soooooo rude!!! Argh!

Like I say I know that my grumpiness meter was off the charts anyway because I wasn’t feeling well and I know that partly I have a really ugly attitude about some of the people and I really do need prayers for my attitude but come on!

Thanks for letting me vent…I’m sorry if you think I’m horrible after reading that lol…generally we do have some very good discussions in Sunday school but I just can’t stand it when these people just take it so far off topic…ok that is all I’m going to say about it…end of rant!

So umm after we skipped outta church early…we went home and I took some more cold medicine and went to bed…I woke up a couple hours later and went upstairs to play Sims…I noticed my father-in-law’s truck outside. Husband had told me that he may come down to bring husband some insulation for his barn…and generally when FIL visits he and husband hang out in the barn. Well so I started building a house for a Sims family (hey it’s better than sitting around and staring!!) and the phone rings…it’s husband asking if I was awake and telling me that I was about to have company…argh (again with my bad attitude!) it was step-girlfriend-in-law…I got over my initial bad attitude and we actually had a pleasant visit.

So after they left we had a little supper…I watched Amazing Race and Desperate Housewives…I didn’t watch the end of last weeks episode but I was happy to hear that they killed off that Nora chick (or whatever he name was) because her character was just a little ridiculous…

Ok there was one more topic that I said I’d come back to and it’s the whole voting privilege thing…Queen left a comment that she didn’t vote because her registration is messed up and she said that she thought I would be disappointed in her…but it’s really ok because we live in a free country and voting is a privilege but it isn’t mandatory. There was a discussion about this on the radio last week and it got me to thinking about the whole voting issue. In several countries voting is mandatory – in Australia you actually get fined or serve jail time if you don’t vote and they further publish your name in the paper so as to shame you publicly for not voting. So people were calling in and giving their opinion and I gotta say that at first I was like yeah let’s make it mandatory here but a few callers called in and pointed out the fact that we do live in a free country and we’re just as free to not vote as we are free to vote and I have to say that that made a lot of sense to me too…So I know cousin Queeny that you aren’t trying to make some political statement by not voting but it’s ok…you are just choosing not to exercise your right and you are free to do so.... hope that makes sense…it doesn’t make you any less of a U.S. citizen if you don’t vote…I’m not more American because I voted!! lol…so don’t be all down on yourself!! It’s really ok!

Well…I could journal more about politics, I actually had a whole other paragraph typed out but perhaps I should have a political blog to type about such things because I think it would actually bore you all to read that here lol…

It seems we’re getting really positive reports on our “Aunt” Kim – all of the tests and biopsies have come back negative for cancer so PRAISE GOD for that!

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK! DANG!! I bought a turkey on Saturday because it was the biggest turkey I’ve ever seen – 23 pounds! And I thought I was buying it early but actually I bought it right on time…my goodness…

well I better get some lunch and some work done….ya’ll take care!

p.s. has anyone switched to the "new version" of Blogger? Just curious as to how it works...

Don't ask Josy about the new beta version! LOL! She hated it and actually had to make a new journal because if you switch to beta, you can't switch back! So, I would wait for the bugs to work out. I do have another journal that I "try things out on" before I post it to my journal that I use....you might try that first!

I have to say that I'm very sorry that you have been sick. I'm STILL snotty sick, but at least I can tell you what day it is and I'm not staring anymore! LOL! I don't know where this head cold thing came from, but anyone who has had it is just miserable!

Hope your "friends" in class get over themselves. People like that just kill me....which is why for about 3-4 years, I haven't been to Sunday school....it's been like that the last two churches we've been to and I get more out of fellowshiping with people than I do out of gossip and nonsense! LOL! I'm just glad that I go to work with the teens in Ohio because I got a TON out of that class!
Lots of Love!

I was on the beta blogger and I hated it. I couldn't login to leave comments! DON'T DO IT!

I don't vote either, not to make a political statement, but because I feel that I don't know enough to make an informed decision. And then I'd feel guilty if that person got into office and did a bad job...yeah, I take it way too personally.

Hope the evil virus leaves soon!

That's actually really responsible of you to take it so personally Josy (the voting thing) see another good reason not to vote!

I was wondering if the "new and improved" journal option was what you had tried and disliked...thanks for the warning!!!

K...first of all...I just noticed your blinkie on the side that says "I had big hair in the 80s". LOL

Well, I can't type a long comment...because of course Baby just woke up! HOpe you get to feeling better soon!!! It is nasty crud that lingers and lingers!

Love ya!!!!
