So…in response to the question as to did I tell my boss the soup was yucky?....YUP…lol
When I found out that she had brought it in (she brought a huge crock pot full of the stuff to share with a staffing meeting) I went on and on about how yuck the batch was that I made at Thanksgiving. I even told her that my sister said it tasted like dog vomit. I also told her that we threw it out. So then I told her that I was anxious to taste hers to see if perhaps I had done something wrong….
So she went in to her meeting and I tasted the soup – which was YUCK – lol….so later she asked me if her soup tasted like mine. I told her “I wasn’t telling!” She said oh tell me and then I told her that it did taste like mine – maybe just a little better – but I still just didn’t care for it…lol…so we had a good laugh. A little while later she was heading out the door to go to a hearing in another county and she told me she’d be by later for her crock pot and to just leave it for her to clean up (I’d venture to guess that there was plenty leftover, although I didn’t check lol!) but then she said, with an ornery grin, feel free to eat as much as you want of the soup!! Lol….
My dad asked me the same question, if I told her that I thought it was yuck….and since it isn’t her special recipe or some heirloom recipe I didn’t feel badly for telling her that I thought it was yuck. Now if it had been like a family recipe or something like that, I would have been more discrete. Lol….but we were handed the recipe at the same time so no biggy….plus my boss is so easy going and we just have that sort of relationship…PLUS…if you do act like you like something that you don’t really like, you are liable to get it as a present or a “special” treat sometime in the future….so it’s better to just say what ya mean!! Lol
ANYWAYS…..too funny! Lol
Also, thank you Josy and Queenie for the anti-cold tips….I will definitely be checking out those. I have a theory of the source so it’d be really good to take that stuff when I know I will be around the cutiest lil germ carriers I know (Angelkids!!) lol….every time they visit I get a cold afterward….umm 1 + 1 = 2! But I wouldn’t trade spending time with them lil boogers!
So last night husband and I had a date night….and what do we do for fun on a date you might ask? Well you might not want to ask!!! Lol j/k….umm so husband called me during the day yesterday and asked what I had planned for the evening. I said nothing. He said good cuz we’re going somewhere. Where? I’m not telling….How will I know how to dress? I hate that game!! Lol So he finally told me and I was just excited to go as he was….we went and looked at a million dollar fixer upper.
There is a 230 acre farm outside of a little town that we live near that has been for sale for at least 2 or 3 years. You can’t see the house from the road but we had read that it was a Civil War era home. Well if you’ve read my journal for very long at all, you know what a history buff both husband and I are. But as I say, you can’t see the house from the road and we had no idea if anyone actually lived there so we didn’t want to just drive down this long lane and surprise somebody. The realtor sign said “showing by appointment only”. But every time we drove by it husband would say he wanted to go see it.
Well apparently yesterday husband was talking about it with someone at work and it just so happened that that guy knew the realtor. So he called him up and got permission for us to go look at the house. It is vacant and after seeing it, I can say with some certainty, it’s been vacant for several years.
So anyway right after work yesterday husband and I took off on our adventure. The driveway was a mile long!!! Lol I told husband if we lived here I’d have to leave a half hour early just so I’d have time to make it down the driveway lol. The property was gorgeous though. On the way back to the house, there are two small ponds and a barn. Then up closer to the house there are two more barns and behind the house and down a ways there is a 7 acre pond/lake…big enough you could put a dock and a couple of boats….oh yeah we were definitely dreaming big when we saw this place…lol…the house, although it needs a lot of love to bring it back up to livable, was GORGEOUS. It is a brick federal style home with a spiral staircase in the very grand foyer. A parlor to one side of the foyer and another living room type room to the other side which then led into the dining room and the kitchen. There was a full bath off the kitchen – why did they do that? I mean I realize that the whole water source issue is probably why, but that is one of my biggest pet peeves with old homes – the bathroom is off the kitchen. You just don’t want those smells in your kitchen!! YUCK! Lol….but anyways. There was signs that the water pipes were probably all cracked and the kitchen, while it was a great size, was in rough shape. Same with the kitchen bathroom….but the woodwork throughout the house….OH THE WOODWORK….it was BEAUTIFUL….the wood floors would need a little love but the trim around the doorways and windows – beautiful!!
I could go on and on…lol it was 2 story 3 0r 4 bedrooms, you’d have to add closets – or in our make-believe financing we’re getting for this, we decided to just budget in all sorts of antique wardrobes and sofas and beds and etc…..lol Hey, if we are going to borrow 1 million, we may as well borrow another million for all the restoration and furnishings right!!!! Lol
But anyways so after we checked out the house we looked at the barns and then we drove down to the pond/lake and that’s when I really fell in love with the property. Oh my goodness….I could just see our doggies running free and going fishing on a boat in the pond lake….a girl can dream right? Lol
So once we left there, we felt really poor because we had just bought a million dollar farm in our dreams…lol…but we went for pizza and dreamed some more and then it was home to our cozy house that I also love very much…
It was a nice evening…I know, we’re nuts! Lol but it was really fun…
So um well it’s time to go home now so I guess I’ll finish my fantasizing about the new old homestead….
Ramble ramble….catch ya’ll later!

I LOVE going into houses and dreaming...though I feel slightly poor afterwards! LOL! The thing that made me laugh was that ya'll went to get pizza afterwards...dreaming of a million dollar home and eating a ten dollar pizza! You crack me up! LOL!
Lots of Love!
That sounds like something we'd do, too!! LOL :) We usually feel poor afterwards, too, though :) But, oh my goodness, how fun would it be to totally restore that baby, with no holds bar financing?!?! Ahhhhhh, now I'm in my happy place...LOL
Okay, talk to ya later :) What a neat date night :)
Too funny! Wiz and I would do that when we went to college, dream about what we would do with all the money we were gonna make with our degrees and the kind of houses and cars we would buy. And then came the real world. lol! That is totally great. I just have this image of you and hubby with your pizza, glowing and dreaming...so romantic!
To add to the Airbourne discussion, it is like Alka-Seltzer, but not fizzy (or as fizzy) when it's dissolved. But, yeah, it's got a distinctive taste that's why I put mine in juice (but not OJ) and it's fine.
Love ya,
Josy
