Happy Mother's Day!

Entry begins afternoon of Wednesday May 9…..

Ok…here’s my AI take last night…first of all a general rant about the disco era of music. It is great to groove to but extremely hard to sing – and even more difficult to not sing and sound like Louie the Lounge Lizard. Now individual opinions (thank you for reading my opinions by the way!)

Melinda – she is clearly the most talented singer of the bunch. But something I observed last night is, and this applies really to most of this season. She is awesome when you hear her but then you see others and forget how good Melinda was until the end of the show when they play the recap. That’s when it is most obvious that she is clearly heads above the rest. So - very talented but sort of forgettable, in my opinion (hereinafter abbreviated as imo).

Lakisha –She’s very talented. Last night I hated her version of Stayin Alive. She really does do way too much of powering through a song. She’s talented but she over does it - imo.

Blake – I loved his second song…I was totally grooving in my chair. But the first song was a little horrid. Ah ah ah ah ah ah…what the? Lol He is definitely the most unique contestant they have ever had on American Idol. He is very artful. That is good way to describe his music ability…he’s truly an artist.

Jordin – the girl’s got it going on! She has the whole package. I just can’t believe how talented and polished and controlled she is for her age. I totally agreed with the Bee Gee dude last night, she has the potential to blossom into this mega singing star – or however he put it. Having said that, her second song was totally pitchy. Bless her heart.

So my pick to win it…I’d have to say Jordin or Melinda.

Anyways…there’s my ramblings about that….

Dancing with the Stars….I gotta say, I was not a Billy Ray Cyrus fan ever. And I’m not even saying that he didn’t deserve to go last night because he’s obviously out-talented in the dancing arena. But he just seems like a really nice goofy genuine feller. So I gotta say, I’m a fan now. I couldn’t believe that Joey was in the bottom two. But at this point, who do you pick? The last dance by Apolo and his partner…that was beautiful...but I also liked Joey’s “pimp” dance and Layla’s waltz….

Ok enough about reality tv….

It’s now Thursday May 10…..

And I guess I will continue my reality tv theme because we now know that Lakisha is off of AI….it was sad to see her go, but it was really the right person to go - imo. But I gotta tell you all how apathetic I am about this season…I know I just need to get over last season and move on lol…but I’m not taking notes like I usually do and also I can’t remember the last time I voted. So last night’s show they were talking about this season on tour and I told husband that I wasn’t going to be buying tickets to see this group of losers – I know, I’m mean….

But anyways, so last night husband and I were half watching AI and attempting to order him some checks online. I found a check site where you can order checks with your picture on them and he wants to order checks with pictures of his tractor on them (does anyone even use checks anymore?). Anyways, so we were working on that. Husband is not very computer savvy. Actually, last night before we were working on ordering him checks, he got himself locked out of his bank account online. He found out this morning that they actually had locked his debit card too. But now that’s fixed.

Anyways….so we’re upstairs and we hear a horrendous crash outside. So, we both go running down the stairs and outside and we see, what looked like at first anyway, a car upside down in the ditch in front of our house. So, husband runs back in the house to get some shoes on, and I run in yelling “Should I call someone? Should I call 911?” Husband tells me yes and then he says oh the computer is online upstairs (we live in the boonies and the dark ages – yes my friends, we are on *gasp* dialup) so he runs upstairs and gets the computer logged off and I have the phone and I dial 911 (I’ve never done that before) and the lady comes on and she asks my address and I tell her there was a car crash in front of my house…I think the car is upside down…she’s asking if people are hurt…so I’m running outside while I’m talking to her. Cordless phones only work so far out of the house and also, I’m not very calm…lol…so I’m yelling out to husband if he can see if anyone is hurt. That’s when I tell her oh the car is not upside down. By this time she just tells me she is sending help. So I hang up the phone and go put shoes on and run out to see what’s going on. Trinity had followed Jimmie out to the scene and so I called for Trin and I went and put her and Chaos in their pen. (*Remind me to tell you a not-so-funny thing we were joking about later).

I go back out to the scene and by this time the guy is out of the car - it was a teenage boy – I think he told Jimmie he was a junior in high school. He didn’t have any passengers…but he was definitely a lucky boy. He took out a fence, a fire hydrant and large solid telephone-pole-like fence post and a stop sign but he was walking around and seemed uninjured. I bet he’ll be sore today though…bless his heart…he was pretty dazed…so then all the emergency people come and we were no longer really needed but of course we couldn’t help but just gawk. We saw the neighbors across the road gawking out their windows too. We don’t get much excitement in the boonies lol. His parents were the last to show up and his dad actually got in the car and later drove it home. I wanted to find out what kind of car that was cuz it was very resilient. A funny thing I heard was when the State Trooper showed up and was inspecting like the tread marks and the tire marks in the grass etc. he said to the guy that was looking at these things with him “He was pretty motivated wasn’t he?” That obviously meant that the trooper thought there was a considerable amount of speed involved. Husband and I were speculating that he was probably airborne for part of his journey too…whatever it was – he was very blessed to walk away from it…

Oh the thing that husband and I were later joking about was this. A few weeks ago, Jimmie told me that Trinity got a cow leg from somewhere. Not a bone – but an actual fresh piece of a small cow – the leg. So we were like just sick because we thought hat maybe our dog killed someone’s cow. But then, she wasn’t messy like she had taken down another animal – I won’t be graphic – but she was clean, let’s just leave it at that. So my theory is that probably the coyotes actually killed the cow, Trinity just picked up part of the spoils. We have a thriving coyote population in our area and it’s not unheard of that a farmer loses a small cow or other livestock to coyotes. So for a week or so we kept the dogs penned up and held our breaths because we figured, if Trinity did do it, then we’d be hearing from someone about it. Well, that was over a month or so ago, and no one has come asking about our doggies whereabouts on such and such a night. So we’re more cautious about where she is, but we’re also less worried. Anyways this has to do with the accident how- you may be asking yourself. Trinity followed Jimmie right out the gate when he went down to the scene of the accident to see if he needed to help the guy in anyway. Later when we were gawking, Jimmie thanked me for putting the dogs up. He said that it would have been really bad if the guy had been injured or dismembered and Trinity had walked away with like the guys hand or something (am I being too morbid? Sorry) But so then we were joking like we were the CSI type investigators and we were baffled – “We just can’t figure out where his left hand went?” Anyways…it was funny in a warped sort of way I suppose…guess you had to be there….

So that was our excitement last night….then we watched Lost – at commercials breaks we would go back out on the porch and resume our Gladys roles…lol…but we are still devoted Lost fans…however, husband and I have a theory and we express this theory while we’re watching it sometimes. Our theory is that the writers sit around and smoke pot while writing this show. (Again with our weird sense of humor…) We’’ll be sitting there watching it and just look at each other and do like a smoking/toking motion to each other and giggle…lol…let me tell you what…they broke out the premium weed in the writer’s room for last night’s episode….a dude was talking to a rocking chair as if someone were in it and then he got thrown around the room. I told husband they better not be making this a scary show! But they were definitely on some premium grade last night…but I still love that show! I think it’s the whole mystery of it all…

Anyways by 11:00 all was quiet in front of our homestead again and we went to bed.

Ok so I have to tell you all…if you are into planting flowers and stuff at your house, and you are looking for a great rose…knock out roses are fabulous! I bought a red double knock out and it is just gorgeous! I want more! Unfortunately the nursery where I bought this one sold out of the double knock outs. If I’d have known how pretty they were going to be and how flowery they were I’d have totally bought two or three or four! I’ll post a picture sometime. But trust me, if you are going to plant something, thus far anyway, I definitely recommend the knock out rose.

Well I hope all you chickas have a great Mother’s Day weekend! Jimmie and I are going to go spend the day Saturday with my mama and we’ll probably go over and visit grandma too.

I better post this before it becomes a book!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Okay, I'm practically rolling on the floor here at my desk, regarding yours and Jimmie's conversation about the cow leg and then the hand! lol. I guess I have a sick sense of humor too! If I had your number I totally would have called you just now to laugh about it.

Okay, anyway Brian watches Lost and occasionally I'll be in the room when he's watching and I agree the writer's must be smoking something. (again laughing at you and Jimmie mimicking smoking a doobie)

I agree with all of your AI opinions. I'm pushing for Jordin! Have a good weekend!

Hey....I don't have long to post a comment...but I was at t-ball practice tonight talking to Kelli and she watches Lost too and she totally agrees with you that the writers are smoking something...but she loves it too!

That is such a blessing that the young boy wasn't hurt...you know how boys think they are invincible! That would've been bad to have a fatal or bad accident right in front of your house, especially if one of the angel babies had dinner with it! LOL You guys are so bad!

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend and showing you my Veras!

Love you Sister!!!!

Laughing off my couch while reading this blog! I am still laughing about your dog "losing" a left hand. I'm tellin' ya...you should write a book...you are hilarious! lol!!!

Yeah, Lakisha had to go. She also NEVER follows the advice of the singers. Not that they have the best advice, but it's a joke between Hubby and I that she never follows directions....and she really didn't on those songs. I'm pulling for Jordin....I really like Melinda, but Jordin's got the whole package.

Okay, better go....gotta get the cow image out of my head! lol!
