and they tell you it's a construction contract dispute.... RUN! Seriously, think of any excuse ya can to get out of it because it's as painful as watching concrete dry. At work, we've been stuck for THREE WEEKS in a trial that was supposed to last FIVE DAYS. Wednesday evening at the close of the day, we had one juror in tears and many others declaring that they would stay til Friday and then they were gone because they've so had to put their daily lives on hold for this case and the attorneys seem to just ask the same questions over and over. So Judge told the attorneys they are on a time limit today and they have to be done...
Anyway... whine whine whine... it's been a dificult few weeks... lots of late nights at work and I'm used to having quiet days where I get lots of work done. So I've been whiney but when the Jury was telling Judge about some of their difficulties, I really felt bad and sort of self involved cuz at least we were at my work and I could sneak back and get things done. Some of these Jurors have left court at 5 or 6:00 each evening and went to their jobs and worked til like 1am so they wouldn't get behind... a person just can't sustain that sort of schedule for three weeks without going a little nuts! I'm sort of amazed that they've stuck it out as long as they have really... I was mutinying last week! lol
So anyways, that's what's going on with me... we haven't gotten any calls to take in any kids yet... the anticipation is driving Jimmie crazy, I on the other hand with the above kind of thing going on at work, am actually relieved that they haven't called yet... because really, what kind of welcome would that be to our home with me working til 6 or 7:00 every night?!
I did write a poem while I sat in court one day. One of our homework assignments that we never completed during our foster care classes was to write a letter to a child that might come in our home. Not for the child to actually read but just to express some of the things we might hope for them. So I'll share that poem at the end of this post.
But first, I just have to say that my sister and my neice and nephew made my husband's day yesterday. Missy called our house to say that Faith Anne had Red Show and Tell yesterday at school and she took one of Isaac's red tractors that Uncle Jimmie had given him. Jimmie wasn't home so I told Missy to call his cell phone... he was somewhere where there wasn't service so Isaac left a message and Jimmie said when he got the message he was just beside himself...
I don't fully understand his passion for tractors but it's cool to see that he is sharing that with Isaac and Faith Anne and that they get it that that is something important to Uncle Jimmie...
Anyways, here's the poem I talked about... I gotta go get ready for work.... have a happy Friday! We're having a slumber party at the courthouse... the Jury said they would stay til 2:30 a.m. to get this case done! lol so it should be an interesting day.... I'll say again, I'm amazed at this jury's sense of civic duty... they all lasted a lot longer than I would have if I were a juror... I'd have bailed a long time ago! lol
Anyways... poem....
"Happy Little House"
We'd like to welcome you
To our happy little house
It is a home, in fact
With lots of love to give
We all need help of some sort
As we travel through this life
Even moms and dads need love
And a caring, helping hand
We know that some things here
Won't be exactly the same
As what you might be used to
In the place that you call home
But what we hope and pray for you
In the time you stay here with us
Is that you'll find our home to be
A safe haven full of love
So rest your head, Dear Little One
Under this roof for a time
For in our happy little house
A friend you'll always find.

That poem is so beautiful! I love it! If I were you, I'd frame it and hang it in the guest bedroom. It brings tears to my eyes...by I'm weepy anyway! :)
Man, what a long case that is! I don't blame the jurors for issuing that ultimatum. What in the world could take so long in the world of construction????
Have a great weekend!!!
I agree with Sara...frame it and put it in the room they will be staying in. That is beautiful!
3 weeks? ARGH! I can't imagine. I'm glad that it is almost over. WOW!!! What dedicated people!
Lots of Love!
