We're Mentees

lol... doesn't that sound like something ya learned about in 9th Grade Health Class? Mentee....

But anyways... we have a mentor for the foster/adopt process! We actually got a call about her two days ago and a letter about her yesterday and then she called us last night as well. For 6-months, people who are new to the process are matched up and mentored by people who have been foster/adoptive parents for years. She and her husband have fostered around 350 kids in their days of doing this and already last night she gave me some very valuable advice! How exciting!

Today I called my local schools just to find out the time school starts and the registration process... cuz I've never done that before! lol and we may have school aged children... actually, that's sort of our focus age.

Anyways, I think Jimmie and I both are just feeling more and more prepared to do this... we'll see if that holds true when we get a phone call! lol...

The really good advice that our mentor gave me yesterday though was, she is a working mom too, so when they get a call to take a placement, she doesn't say yes until after she's checked with her daycare center to see if they have a spot available for the age of the child needing to be placed. She said that if her daycare didn't have a space, they don't take the placement. I was wondering how that would work... Jimmie and I both have been sort of freaking out about that a little bit actually... just the whole logistics of the whole childcare situation... but I think it'll be ok... plus no sense in worrying about something til it's here right?

Anyways... I gotta go... I just felt like posting something... sort of thinking out loud...

Happy Wednesday!

What great advice! I'm glad even talking to her for just a bit gave you some encouragement! Her advice also makes quite a bit of sense! lol.

I really have no doubts that you and Jimmie will do great with this!

That is really great that you have someone to "help" you in the process and teach you the ropes. I am sure you will learn more from her than you would ever be able to learn in a classroom setting - and what good advice!

I am just so happy for you guys and praying for you every day!

Love you bunches!!!!
