Peek a Boo

It's been forever and a day since I've posted... I've been lurking... but just haven't had time or been in the mood to journal... we're all doing ok... really great actually... it's such a trip, this whole being a foster parent thing... there are so many little things that they don't prepare you for in the training... but then there are so many things where ya go, thank goodness they told us about that in the training! We have a mentor and she has been such a blessing... it's really great to have someone who has been doing this a while who you can turn to anytime for advise... that's a really great program...

My dad just called... there was a yard sale down the road from him and they had a Dora kitchen for $15.00... he wanted to know if I wanted it... umm yeah! lol but then he called back to say soemone beat him to it... I wondered why he didn't get it the first time! oh well... my aunt found at a yard sale a Dora Jeep for $30.00. Dad said that it is almost brand new and works great. It's for Mayce for her 3rd birthday. I can't wait to turn her loose in our field with that thing... she will have so much fun with it!

We're celebrating Mayce's birthday this weekend with my family (we're actually having a Mother's Day/b-day party - I like to call it a Queen and Princess party) and then the next two weekends we have birthday parties to go to for other little ones. Also next Friday, her mother is having a party for her at the visit and mom asked us if we would come to it. I was hesitant because I didn't want to step on their time together but the social worker said that the mom would really like us to share that time with her. I thought that was nice.

They had their visit this week with her on Tuesday and I had the girls decorate these little flower vases for her and sent that with a card with them to their visit for a Mother's Day present.

Anyway... Jimmie and I are doing great too.. I was telling him last night that I needed to fit time in our routine somewhere for giving the house a good scrub down. When the girls are sleeping I'm so tired and just want to rest but I've got to figure out some time to do that in our busy schedule... I never liked to clean before and I still don't really want to clean but it becomes a necessity when little ones are roaming around putting random things from the floor in their mouths... lol

Speaking of that... I think I mentioned how much the girls LOVE the doggies... Aniya (the baby) she especially loves the doggies but I'm not sure how much longer the doggies are going to love her. She likes to get in their food bowl! She also likes to munch on their dog biscuits... and she gets into that stuff so quick too!

One really sweet moment we had a couple of weeks ago was this... every night when I put Mayce to bed I tell her that she is special because God made her and Jesus loves her. Well one night we were sitting at the dinner table eating dinner and she announced to us that she was special because God made her and Jesus loves her... I immediately teared up! It was sweet and so random and I realized that things do sink in! I keep thinking of that scripture that says the God's Word will never go void... if we just plant the seeds of Faith in these little ones hopefully they will carry it with them all their lives.

Anyways, I better get back to work... just thought I'd post a little bit to let ya'll know how we're doing and that we still definately need your prayers... Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Don't those moments just melt your heart? Such affirmation that you're not talking to yourself!! LOL :) That is such a special job you all are doing...I can't go on enough about that...

Yeah, remember my obsession with flylady?!?! LOL :) I needed to hear someone say, "Just 15 minutes, set the timer, then you're done!!" That mentality (if not her "whole" method) has helped me break things down into chunks...

Okay, better go...Love you!! And, we'll see you Saturday!! :) Oh, and I'm guessing Maycee likes Dora?!?! :) LOL

Happy First Mother's Day!!!! I'm so proud of you! You are such a special lady and you've done so well with the girls. I just love the fact that during her prayer she mentioned what you and Jimmie have been teaching them. YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!!!

Lots of Love!

WOW. I just love to hear you talk about the girls! It is really neat to see how well they are doing - but even more to see how YOU are doing! We all knew you could do it - even when you were freaking out in the beginning! So proud...so, so proud of you, Sister! And I loved what Mandy said....because we often do feel like we are just talking to ourselves! LOL

Looking forward to our Queen and Princess Party!!!

Love ya!!!

Man, ditto to what everyone else said! It's so funny that 6 months ago you weren't sure you were doing the right thing by even doing this program and here you are...Mother of the Year! :) You all are doing so great and you're right...you're planting seeds!

I hope Mayce has a great birthday party and you a good Mother's Day!
