And now for something completely different.... (well not really but I like that phrase...lol)

Random Entry I started some time ago….

Whoa… did ya’ll realize that most of us moved over here to Blog spot THREE years ago?? Man time flies! Lol Makes me want to go back and read some of my first entries… in fact I did and man was I ate up with blinkies! Lol I think Mandy and I were actually having a who could post the cutest blinkie challenge lol..

Anyways… I just wanted to say how thankful I am that we serve a living breathing moving Holy God. I was listening to New Life Live at lunch today and they were talking about how in Acts, Paul tells this tribe that has a statue of the Unknown god and he wrote them a letter saying, listen I know the name of that God, let me tell you more about Him… there was such a spiritual hunger then and there is such a spiritual hunger now. We all come hard-wired for a God connection! And He simply says plug in to me and I’ll do the rest. On NLL they were also talking about the book The Secret. I’ve not read it but I have heard a buzz about it and apparently Oprah has really endorsed it heavily. Apparently the book talks about the secrets to life and one of those “secrets” is that we are god. Huh? That’s what I said… yikes… I don’t know bout ya’ll but I don’t want me as god…lol… anyway, Henry Cloud was apparently asked to write a Christian version of the Secret so they were talking about that and that’s when they were talking about the spiritual hunger and I totally didn’t mean to blog about that but it just came to mind and I started typing it so there ya go… lol

Entry for today….

Umm so I’m not sure when I started the above entry but it was typed so I decided to post it with this entry lol…

To comment a bit on my old entry though… it’s true how we are all wired for a God connection… I mean everyone feels that void in them and some of us embrace the only One who can fill the void with our whole hearts but so many in the world are like… ok hold your hand in front of your face and then try to look anywhere but at your hand… that’s what so many people in the world do… look every where else for the answer except for the one obvious place right in front of their faces! They even go so far as to call themselves god?? Why is that easier for them to believe than in the One True God… Jesus Christ?? Ok… end of that rant….

Also….speaking of blinkies (referring to my above random post)… AOL announced that at the end of the month they will no longer offer FTP space… which means I gotta find somewhere else to store my blinkies and other graphics so they’ll show up in my journal… blah… that’s a lot of work I don’t really want to take the time do… backing up my FTP space to somewhere else… the FTP space was one of the reasons I’ve kept AOL all these years… now that they are doing away with that maybe I’ll do away with them… hmm.. sorry… I was grumbling out loud….

So this past weekend was me and Jimmie’s 12th wedding anniversary! Go us! In this day and age that’s an accomplishment of sorts! Actually, the accomplishment is that we’re still in love and we’re each other’s best friends and we actually enjoy each other’s company and stuff….

So we had another foster family watch the girls and we went and stayed two nights (for free – there is a perk to Jimmie traveling so much… we get free hotel stays) close to where we used to live in Ohio. On Friday night we went to one of our favorite little local restaurants in our old hometown. Does anyone watch How I met your mother? Last week there was an episode about the best burger ever. Well that’s how I feel about this little restaurant… they truly have the best burgers ever and even after all these years… still sooo yummy… the funny thing is that this guy has been in business for years and I know the place has done well but he has done very little cosmetically to the little restaurant over the years… it’s like this little dive… the kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant and very open and the owner is the cook and he sings loudly and it’s just this funny little place with the best burgers in the world…

Ok enough about that… but if you are ever in the Wilmington area I highly recommend you look for Rod’s Capricorn Inn…

So then after we ate we went to our favorite haunted place… it’s a haunted hayride sort of except instead of hay wagons ya ride in convertible school buses… which is a school bus with the top cut off… it was sooo much fun… and we got to sit in the very back seat…. Sooo much fun… I just loved it!

So then we headed back to our hotel and got a good nights sleep… I secretly would have liked to just sleep all weekend and do nothing… but that wouldn’t have been as fun as what we did… but still I was tempted to just sleep all weekend… lol… Saturday we did sleep in a little bit and then we got up and went to the IKEA store… that place is gianormous! There is so much to see… it’s a home furnishings store with just idea after idea after idea… we saw lots of things we liked and we did end up buying a table… it’s a great place to go especially if you need a lot of storage ideas for small spaces… but if ya go there… make sure you have plenty of time to just look….

After that we got some lunch at Uno’s Pizza and then we went to the flea market and I just was not feeling it… so I was whiny and I annoyed Jimmie until he finally turned around and headed to the car… well then I felt bad that I got my way… sort of… lol… so we had a few hours to kill before we were to meet up with some of his family for dinner and more haunted houses… so we found a movie theater and there wasn’t much playing that looked good so we finally settled on the new Robert Dinero and Al Pacino movie, Righteous Kill… snoozer… I slept through about half of it… it was actually a good story but it was put together kind of weird… and there just wasn’t a lot of action…. Jimmie kept waking me up… grrr… lol… I’ve actually had that problem a lot lately… falling asleep if I’m sitting still… someone actually told me this past week that I’m starting to look like a mom… tired… I thought to myself, well ya can’t hear enough of that… but it’s true… I am a lot more tired since becoming a mom… the other night I was channel flipping and did ya’ll know that Barack Obama has his own tv channel right now? At least on satellite he does… and I fell asleep with the tv on his channel. I told Jimmie the next day that I felt like I was brainwashed because I subconsciously listened to Obama while I was sleeping… agh! Lol

Anyways, so then we met up with some of Jimmie’s cousins at a Mexican restaurant and then we headed to another haunted hayride…. So much fun! There was actually a haunted hayride at this one and also a haunted bog that you walked through but I was feeling really chicken so we just did the hayride and then me and Jimmie waited for the cousins to go through the bog… after that we headed back to the hotel… the next morning we met my parents for breakfast at Cracker Barrel and then headed home.

When we picked up the girls from the other foster family, they looked really tired… they are fairly new foster parents too and so far they have had a 10 year old and right now they have a 3 month old… so they had not yet experienced toddlers, let alone more than one child at a time… they said they had a lot of fun but they were very tired… and they sort of had that shell shocked look that I know I walked around with for the first two weeks the girls were with us….

So to return the favor in a couple of weeks, we’re going to keep the 3 month old for the weekend… I’m sort of anxious about that just cuz I’ve never cared for a little baby for an extended period of time… but everyone has told me that he should be a piece of cake compared to the girls… so we’ll see…

So as most of you have probably heard, the big concern and focus in our family right now is Aunt Barbara and her family, Claude (her husband, my dad’s brother) and their children Andy (who is in California, the last we heard), Nichol and Michael and grandbaby Michaela…. Please just lift them all in your prayers. Even though we all know that Aunt Barbara has reservations in a much better place than this old earth, my heart just breaks for her family because I know that… I mean… she has been like the center of her family and… I mean… I can’t even imagine if it were my mother how I’d feel… and Barb and Claude have just had this love affair that is the thing of novels or movies… I worry so much for Uncle Claude when Barb does pass… I ask that you all especially lift him in your prayers.

She is an amazing person and it is in large part because of her and Uncle Claude’s example that Jimmie and I are foster parents today. Together they fostered probably well over 300 children in their journey as foster parents and it was amazing to watch her with those children. She truly has a gift of love. She would whole-heartedly love each and every child that came into their home and I decided that if she could do that and still be able to give those children up when their time in her home came to an end, then surely I could do it too.

Anyway, we’d all appreciate your prayers during this time… thank you all so much!

Also… in case you may have been wondering (Sara) we did not get kicked out of our hotel this past weekend and we did have plenty of towels in our room… both nights…

Incidentally we stayed in the Drury Inn… that is where Jimmie stays when he is working Evansville Indiana and it’s the same hotel chain that Jimmie earned enough hotel points for our cruise earlier this year. I’m always impressed when we stay there… the beds are soo comfy, the rooms are really nice and they have an awesome complementary breakfast buffet, not to mention free drinks and snacks in the evening… I highly recommend Drury Inn….

Ok the commercial is over now… lol
