Ya know, at some point I'm going to have to get some work done this week...but it's been one of those weeks where I'm just not getting anything done...sitting in court for three days straight bored outta my mind didn't help matters...lol..incidentally, the jury awarded the plaintiff a little over $5,000.00 for his damaged property....he was asking for $200,000.00 punitive damages, which included the clean up and the ecological downfall of the land due to trees being cut off of it...::eye roll::
so anyways, then Thursday was criminal docket day and then Wally world...oh I went and did some shopping at Cracker Barrell at lunch time and they already have their ornaments 40% off! so I got my work Secret Santa an ornament and a $10.00 gift certificate and I painted her a slate...but she wasn't here today so I have to wait til after Christmas to give her her present...how rude! lol...If I'd known that I woulda hit an after Christmas sale! lol..and not stayed up til midnight working on her slate! grrr...but it turned out pretty...I've never painted a lighthouse before...she collects lighthouses...so I painted a welcome sign with a lighthouse on it...and an ocean and beach...I'll have to post a picture of it later...it turned out kinda pretty...I'm always surprised when things turn out nice...lol...it's like..did I really do that? (and I don't really mean that in a bragging sort of way...but don't you all have those moments where you recognize that you did something well and your surprised!lol...kinda like that) So anyway, Judge "commissioned" me to make her Secret Santa a slate too... so I did that earlier this week...but he wasn't here today either so she'll have to wait until Monday to give that to him...
dinner was wonderful...oh my heavens...there's a lady in court right now (I'm not in court but I have a monitor to watch all the hearings) the attorneys and the judge are conferencing her case and so the clients are sitting in the courtroom with a bailiff (it's a nasty divorce dispute so it's a good thing the sheriff is in there with them...so they don't kill each other! They are fighting over Christmas ornaments, pictures, household items, etc.) anyway, her attorney just passed through the room and she said some smarty comment about all the progress they are making...people irrate me...lol...aren't you all glad I shared that? lol....
ANYWAY....our carry-in was yum...I ate too much! My secret santa gave me a box of Ghiradelli chocolate carmel squares (sinfully yum!) and a Vincent Van Gogh calendar...I don't know how she knew that Van Gogh is one of my all-time favorite artists...but she did...so yay for her...it's pretty...we gave judge a movie themed gift bag...complete with a gift certificate to the movies and a gift certificate to Cheddars (a really yummy and reasonably priced restaurant down here).
I love our courthouse Christmas party...we kinda got bad news though...someone who is an idiot took the clerk's examine and passed here in OC and so now he'll probably run against the current clerk, and because the county is so Republican now, he may win...now I'm a Republican and I'm all for voting for Republicans (but I don't get to vote in this county since I live in a different county), but I'm more for researching candidates and voting for them because I think they are best for the job rather than strictly voting for someone just because of the party they are affiliated with...for example, my boss is a Democrat...but I wouldn't replace her for anything! and the current clerk here is Democrat...but doesn't it make sense to leave someone in a job if she is doing it well than to replace her with someone that doesn't have a bit of knowledge about the court system? I don't know the guy, but apparently, from everyone that does know him, it might be bad if he were to win...I don't think it is completely in stone if he is running for the office though...and another Republican could always beat him in the primaries....Blah...about politics, I'm sorry to bore you...but my point is that it was sad to think that this could be the last year to have this clerk at the Christmas party...she's sort of a motherly figure to us all...very sweet lady...I just can't stand for people to vote one way or another just because of that D or R by the name...I'm guilty of it...but if possible, I try and research and figure out the positions of people...idiots exist in either party! lol....yada yada yada...it's an election year next year, so I won't politicize too early...I'll try and be good! lol...
speaking of politics...I saw a bumper sticker this morning that brought tears to my eyes...I realize that this is a hot button issue...I'm sorry to bring it up...but it made me just want to cry....it had a picture of ten babies and every fourth one was sort of like a shadow in black and white and it said "Every fourth baby dies from CHOICE"...that literally brought tears to my eyes...the church I grew up in was such an activist church on the whole abortion issue...sometimes I feel like I should be doing more to help in that whole area...I have a very good friend down here that actually had an abortion a long time ago...and it's very sad, the impact that still has on her today...people just don't realize all of the consequences of this action...
alrighty...I'm off the hot and heavy issue...sorry...just wanted to share about the bumper sitcker...
well I really should try and get some work done...the lady is still being impatient...
oh I have to go to the imfamous wedding tomorrow...did ya'll hear that some of his uncles added themselves to their dads rsvp?...lol...we should have added our whole family to grandmas rsvp!!! lol...at least I'll get to see grandma and Nick tomorrow! yay...I cannot believe that my cousin who goes to UofL planned her wedding on the day that UofL and UK play each other though!! Husband said, we just need to make sure we get instructions on how to work the tv...but there is suppose to be a nationwide broadcast of the game tomorrow night so we'll catch it then if we miss it tomorrow afternoon...aren't you all glad to be updated on Kentucky's second religion...I mean, basketball schedule...lol...

You crack me up!!!! Sorry work is so boring, but I laugh every time I read your journal about your work! You seem very sarcastic and I just laugh at thinking about how you are saying it while you're typing!!!! LOL! Hope you have fun at the wedding tomorrow!!! Lots of Love!
How was the reception? I hope you all had a good time with Grandma & Nick :) haha :) Nick is a fun guy :) Oh, and I did hear about the "crashers" of the wedding...it's just all so weird...It hurts my head to try and think of where in the world she's coming from...
Merry Christmas to you, too!!
