More than you'll ever want to know about salt cured ham and other ramblings....

First of all…a ham update…the grand champion ham this year went for $500,000.00….that is so bizarre!! Lol…I should note that our mother was making fun of sister and my reaction to the hams…apparently it is how hams are and have been preserved for ages…it was just odd to see them hanging around a fair…they were indoors so I guess that’s ok…but still…

Here are some ham facts…

*The grand champion ham weighed 17.6 pounds. That means that this ham that sold for $500,000.00 is worth $28,409.09 per pound!! Think of that the next time you go to the store and balk at paying $3.00 or more for a pound of ham!! Lol
*Southern National Bank of Stanford is the new proud owner of the ham and the proceeds are being donated to Crown Financial Ministries a Georgia faith-based group that helps clients with money matter.
*There were over 400 hams entered into the contest…that’s a lot of carcasses hanging around man!
*It is actually a 4-H project that is started around January. The 4-H kids work with professional meat curers and the contest was started several years ago to preserve the art of curing meat. Who knew that was an art!!
*The hams are auctioned off after a ham breakfast at the fair, which is traditionally attended by the governor of Kentucky and other dignitaries.

Anyway…I don’t know why I find this so intriguing but it is what it is…lol

I agree with sister that James did go out dignified and it was kinda sad to see him go and I’m glad that he came to the conclusion it is just a game and I was also glad to see him talking to Janie again… Marcellas and Howie were uncomfortable to watch…I also found it ironic that Marcellas was all judgmental about how Howie left the house when he was such a drama queen himself…they are both such big babies! That house was GORGEOUS! I can’t believe how ungrateful Marcellas was acting about his breathtaking surroundings….I’ll take his place!! Lol and Howie was really showing his butt last night too…I’m glad he’s not in the game anymore….

I’m still not sure who my pick is to win, but there are a few that I definitely don’t want to win…and Erika is one of those that I don’t want to win – she gets on my nerves – something about her is weird and if I have to pick a Chilltown member that I like more it would be Will…Boogie kinda gets on my nerves too……I was really bummed when Erika won HOH last night…I was hoping she’d be the next to go…it will be interesting to see what the twist next week is that will send two people home in one night…I was speculating with sister on the phone last night that maybe whoever is voted out gets to pick a person to take with them…I dunno…I’m definitely going to have to read the live feeds to see if they let on what it is! I’m such a nerd!! lol…

ok I have to give credit where credit is due…my sister suggested painting my room with no name light blue and it looks SOOOO FABULOUS!!!! I’m not quite done with it but I can already tell that I love it! and husband said that it really makes a difference even from the outside of the house…you can actually see lights in the window now cuz all this light is just bouncy off the walls now! So yay! I think my kitchen will be next but I really need to work on doing something with my tomatoes this weekend so paint projects are on hold for a bit once I get this room done….

Well I better do some work…happy Friday! I can’t believe there is only one more week of August left!! Where in the world did the time go? Geesh!!
