Quickie post... Happy New Year!

Hi ya'll! Hope Santa was good to everyone... he brought me back porch lights... and he even surprised me by installing them as soon as we got home! lol I'd say my two favorite presents though came outta no where but I love it when I get (and give) presents that say I know you... ya know? Like the year my sister gave me the book of Shel Silverstein poetry Where the Sidewalk Ends. That is still one of my most treasured presents. This year my wonderful sister gave me a spoon bracelet to match my spoon ring and I have to say I love it more every day... it's just so shiney! lol... and the other present is no surprise, I'm sure... lol... a Vera... not just any Vera... the prettiest Vera I ever did see... lol... but every Vera, when it's new seems to be the prettiest Vera I ever saw... my sister and I discussed it over Christmas and we decided we seriously do have an illness... lol... and it's even worse when you know where you can get discounted Vera's (and you're sure that's where your gifts come from too) and can buy your very own in every color but STILL get that giddy and bent out of sorts when you receive one as a gift! lol

well anyways... all this rambling about presents and while like anyone else, I really do enjoy receiving well meant presents, that's truly not my focus during Christmas... I love thinking about the people I'm shopping for and trying to find that one present that brings on that little "aha" reaction... ya know... I found a really great website this year that had stuff galore that I know my husband would love. I wasn't able to share the link with him or anyone else because I was stingy and wanted him to not guess what I got nor did I want anyone to duplicate what I got for him. There was a close call because I almost ordered the Farmall windchimes that sister got for him...

But anyway, presents aside, I had such a great holidays this year... I got my shopping and wrapping and all that done super early and I was literally drumming my fingers the last 2 weeks waiting for Christmas to get here... I did a lot of internet shopping and as one lady at work who also did lots of internet shopping pointed out... every time a package came it was like Christmas because you got to open up the box and see what came! lol

But just the way the holidays fell this year gave me sooo much time off work... almost 2 weeks... and I spent a lot of it in Ohio with family and a good bit of it at home just veggin too... Mandy and Missy both did a great job of recapping Christmas Eve and New Years Eve and such... so I'll refer you to their journals for that part... lol... except we did not karaoke at either event, which was odd but it's harder to do that the way our family is a growing... lol

We had a less busy Christmas day this year which was so nice... Jimmie's family decided to get together on a different day this year (now that more of his cousins are getting married, they also have the inlaw outlaw dilemma of where to be on Christmas etc). And I decided that it wouldn't be impolite to ask that Jimmie's father and girlfriend come to where we were staying (at mom and dad's) rather than us driving all the way to their house... so other than going to Missy's for brunch on Christmas day... which was sooo nice... we didn't have to go anywhere! It would have been kind of nice to be able to be at our house but I still think that while it is just me and Jimmie... it doesn't make sense for just him and I to be home alone on Christmas.

We almost had a very different Christmas this year... a few days before Christmas we got a call about 4 little girls but before we could answer they found a place for them... we were really on the fence... I wanted them but Jimmie has been involved in a barn project since Thanksgiving and I knew I'd be alone a lot with them... our worker fills us in on what happens after the kids are placed and it's so neat to see how God truly is guiding which foster home these little ones end up in according to their needs... the youngest of the four girls ended up needing extensive medical care and the foster mother she ended up with just happened to be a nurse...

Jimmie and I really wanted to go see Marley and Me on Christmas but have yet to do that... like I said he was stuck on this project since Thanksgiving but they finally finished... he helped an old friend move a barn... doesn't that sound fun? lol

Anyways... so I did rent some movies over the holiday... Enchanted... so cute... loved it... Stardust.... Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro in sort of a Princess Bride medieval magical type fairytale... it was so good! And such different roles for them both! Evan Almighty... loved it and the message within! and speaking of the ick factor... ok.. so I love Johnny Depp and I'm pretty sure I've seen just about every movie he's been in... even the scarey ones and now I can say even the gorey ones... Sweeney Todd... he played the role exellently and I never knew he could sing... but egads it was a gorey movie... although beautiful in that Tim Burton artsey kind of way... I'm slightly off, I know...

Welll... I really did mean this to be a quick post... I have an issue... my profile image is stuck... so I guess I'll have those snowmen over there forever... when I try to change it by clicking the remove image button... not a thing happens... it's really aggrevating...

Anyways... hope ya'll have a great week!
