Shameless Copy Cat

Haha... I am a shameless copy cat... I read Mandy's blog earlier today and she had the cutiest background so I followed the link to where she got hers and got me one too... it is amazingly easy too!

I was working on my blog earlier because the time is drawing near where I'm going to lose most all the graphics (blinkies etc) that I have stored online because AOL is deleting and no longer offering FTP space. (sorry geek speak to the non-techno-geek people... probably best if ya ignore this entry cuz I'm whining about something geeky... lol) I had lots of stuff in my FTP space which is one of the main reasons that I've kept AOL for so long... now that they are doing away with that and other features I liked I may be shopping for a cheaper or even free email server...

anyway, mainly I posted to give props to Mandy for finding the cute background site... I do hope to restore my blinkie wall soon. I know you all will wait with baited breath for that... lol... I'm a dork but ya love me anyways...

So will anyone else be so happy when elections are over... ugh the political ads are driving me bonkers.... Also, I'm thinking of switching how I'm registered to vote after the election - from Republican to Independant. Right now and all my voting life, I've been a Republican and actually I think I was a Republican at birth. My mother often refers to me as her Alex Keating child (Michael J. Fox's character on Family Ties). However, I've come to the belief that the two parties of power, Democrats and Republicans, have so polarized this nation's politics that they are going to be the death of this nation as we know it. To me, it appears as if the competition to be in power is way more important to those in Washington than the actual issues and the actual constituents that they represent, i.e. we the people. And around election time, I find myself getting caught up in that competition too. And I can't stand it. I truly wish that there were a viable third candidate because I'm not happy one bit with either of the yahoos viaing for my vote. I find myself having to pick the lesser of the two evils and the one who will put "my side" in power... see and I can't stand that... because anyone running for president should be on my side but the Democrats and Republicans have made it all about picking sides so much so that it makes me crazy... short trip I know... but still...

Last week when Colin Powell threw his support to Barack, I seriously looked again at whether or not I could vote for him. I have admired Colin Powell for years and was hoping that he would have run for president eventually. But the fact is that Barack Obama is so liberal, his stance on issues that are so important to me, like abortion... he's for almost anything goes in that area and has vowed to overturn most of the laws George Bush has passed like the parental consent law and others like partial birth abortion and even withholding medical care for abortion survivors.

Jimmie will be the first to tell you that I get a little imbalanced when the issue of abortion comes up... it is definately a hot button issue with me and one that I use to gauge who will get my vote. Because you see, I believe that someone's stance on abortion is telling of something else... how much they value (or don't value) human life... any human life... what's that scripture... "what you have done to least of these my brethern you have done unto me".

I don't think Roe v. Wade will ever be overturned and I can live with that but what I don't want to see happen is to see the value of life cheapen beyond repair and if laws start getting repealed and passed that make it easier and easier for people to get abortions whenever they feel the need and without much thought... that's just not anywhere I want to be. ... ok I'm off my soap box....

There are plenty of other reasons that I just can't bring myself to vote for Obama but I also don't have many good reasons to vote for McCain. I shouldn't say that... because there are several good things about McCain that I can think of.... he shares many of my core beliefs, he isn't afraid to work across the party lines and he has the track record there to back that up. He doesn't seem caught up in the party competition as much as his collegues... just for some reason I'm just not crazy about him... I do like Sara Palin and hate all the bad press she has gotten... she does make me wonder if she's presidential material and the press hasn't helped one iota to clear up that for me... not that I would expect they would... I mean she was so popular and did such fantastic things for John McCain's numbers when he announced her as his running mate that I'm sure many people went running home to rack their brains as to how they were going to poke holes in that bubble... and they've done their darndest to make her look like a bubble head. As much as I love SNL and find it hilarious, I really think they haven't done Sara any favors...

well I could ramble on... but it's ridiculously in the middle of the night... I'm not sure why I'm up and why I logged on here but I did and I rambled and it's done... thanks for reading my political rant.... and remember it's a free country so feel free to disagree with me and express it in a poem... lol seriously... if you disagree, your comment better be in the form of a poem! Let's have some fun with it.... wow it's late... bye bye

Now I won't feel so bad when I go and steal her background either! :)

So, politically.....
I am still an undecided voter
I need to decide since it's closer
The candidates stink
When I see them I drink
(so) Let's just hope it doesn't come down to the floaters

Lots of Love!

First off, I think Kelley's been drinking...ha ha ha. I have to agree with you on this whole election mumbo jumbo. I do believe also it's voting for the lesser of 2 evils! Arrgghh! Thank goodness it's over tomorrow! :)
